Azimut Yachts — founded 1969

1969 — Founding

Paolo Vitelli and the vision

At just 22 years old, Paolo Vitelli founded Azimut in Turin as a yacht-charter business. What began as a small brokerage is today a global group. In 1985 Azimut acquired the historic Benetti shipyard, creating the Azimut|Benetti Group.

  • 1969 — founded as a charter company in Turin
  • 1985 — acquisition of Benetti (founded 1873)
  • 2003 — first time the world's largest private yacht builder
  • Today — over 300 yachts per year
Azimut S7 — carbon hybrid technology

Innovation

Technology and sustainability

Azimut was the first shipyard to use carbon fibre in series yacht production. Its patented carbon hybrid construction cuts weight by up to 30 % — meaning more speed, lower fuel consumption and greater range.

  • Carbon hybrid technology — 30 % lighter
  • Patented dual-mode hull
  • Seakeeper gyro stabilisation
  • Hybrid propulsion and sustainable production
Azimut Interior Design

World-class designers

Azimut collaborates with the very best designers. Alberto Mancini leads the exterior design, while Achille Salvagni and Fabio Fantolino shape the interiors — a unique combination of sportiness and elegance.

Good to know about Azimut Yachts

Where are Azimut yachts built?

At six production sites — five in Italy (Avigliana, Viareggio, Savona, Fano) and one in Brazil. Headquarters and R&D are in Avigliana near Turin.

What sets Azimut apart from other shipyards?

Patented carbon hybrid technology (30 % lighter), world-class designers such as Alberto Mancini, and the broadest portfolio in the industry — from sport boats to superyachts.

Which Azimut collection is right for me?

Flybridge and Seadeck for family holidays, the S Collection for sporty owners, Magellano for long-range cruising, Grande for superyacht comfort. We are happy to advise you.

Can I configure an Azimut individually?

Yes — materials, colours, woods, engine options and electronics can all be specified individually. On Grande models, the level of customisation comes close to that of a fully custom yacht.
